I preform a similar technique to that used by Italian glass blowers. A flower cane or any other design that will be used in the piece is first handmade out of clay. Next, a combination of colored clay is blended to make the background. Thin slices of the flower cane are applied to the clay background and rolled flat. Leaves are added next and the piece is hand-rolled so the leaves and flowers are imbedded into the background clay. Another layer of flowers is then applied and the clay is cut to the shape needed.
